On
a day-to-day basis, Mr. Halpern is responsible for the management
of Jackmont Hospitality, its operating units and the
overall outlook of the company. Specifically, he sets the strategic
course of the firm, working with the sales department on business
development techniques, acts as an advisor to senior management and
the Company’s Board of Directors to create key business alliances
and oversees all financial forecasting for the business.
Prior
to his tenure with Jackmont Hospitality, Mr. Halpern served as a
Financial Analyst
for Holiday Inn Worldwide, one of the world’s
largest lodging corporations. At Holiday Inn, Mr. Halpern managed
corporate financial projections for acquisitions, divestitures and
major renovations of all company-owned hotels. He served as District
Manager for Gourmet Services, Inc., an Atlanta-based institutional
foodservice company, supervising the day-to-day operations of multiple
college and university dining programs.
Mr.
Halpern has lectured nationally on industry related topics, including
supplier
diversity, economic investments in mixed communities and
political activism in business development. He currently serves as
Industry Representative of the National Restaurant Association, (NRA);
as Treasurer of the Multi-Cultural Foodservice and Hospitality Alliance,
(MFHA) and as Treasurer of the Georgia Black United Fund, (GBUF).
In August, 2004, he served as conference co-chair of the MFHA’s
Annual Conference in Washington, DC. Previously, Mr. Halpern served
as a member of the Board of the Tuskegee University School of Hospitality
Management. He also has been designated as a Foodservice Management
Professional (FMP) by the National Restaurant Association. He is a
graduate of the prestigious School of Hotel Administration at Cornell
University.
